Jewish New Orleans Reaches Out to Ike Victims

It’s been less than two weeks since the Texas coastline was battered by Hurricane Ike. 

 

New Orleanians are uniquely familiar with the toll a storm of that magnitude can take on a vulnerable area. 

 

Just three years ago, the local Jewish community was devastated by Katrina’s wrath and gratefully accepted the aid of United Jewish Communities, among others, to help restore stability to a shell-shocked area.  Three years later, the Greater New Orleans Jewish Community is thriving and vibrant.

 

More importantly, the community is paying forward its blessings to those in need in Texas.

Most of us have been impacted in some way by breast cancer.  Breast cancer is the second most common type of cancer in the world, and the fifth most common cause of cancer-related death.


We can help find a cure.

The Young Adult Division of the Jewish Federation of Greater New Orleans has paired up with Young Jews of the Crescent City to create Team J, which will participate in the 12th annual Race for the Cure.   The race will be held on Sunday, October 19 on the Roosevelt Mall of City Park at 9:00 a.m.
