A “Statement for Peace” Resolution (R-24-338) was passed unanimously at this morning’s City Council meeting. The originating Statement for Peace was signed by over 100 local leaders, including elected and government officials, faith leaders, business, civic, and community leaders. This collective action reflects the city’s commitment to fostering unity and empathy within our community, even in the face of complex and divisive global issues.
The Statement was never intended to be a comprehensive take on a highly divisive issue. Instead, it was meant to find and articulate a possible, albeit small, piece of common ground during an incredibly divided moment. The Jewish Federation is proud to have been part of this effort, standing alongside other local leaders in this call for unity and peace both internationally and within our local community. This resolution represents a step toward communal solidarity, emphasizing our shared humanity and the desire for a better future for all.
The Council may have passed the Resolution, but that doesn’t mean the work stops here. Click here if you’d like to sign on the Statement for Peace.
