Program & Engagement for Those New to New Orleans

Feel at home and welcome in our community! The JWelcome program supports newcomers of all ages with their transition into the Greater New Orleans area. A complimentary one year JNetwork membership is provided by the National Council of Jewish Women and Hadassah.

JWelcome Membership Benefits include:

  • Discounted first year membership to the Jewish Community Center
  • Financial assistance towards tuition at the Jewish Community Day School
  • Discount coupons to local restaurants and Jewish-owned businesses
  • General support and outreach

Eligibility:

  • People who grew up in New Orleans, left and returned after at least five years away.
  • Graduates of college and post-undergraduate programs in New Orleans if they did not grow up in the Greater New Orleans area.
  • Undergraduate students currently attending a local college/university do not qualify as Newcomers until they graduate.
  • People who have moved to New Orleans in the last three years.  Recent university graduates are the only exception to this rule.
  • New Jewish communal professionals, including Rabbis.
  • People who have recently converted (in the past three years) to Judaism.
  • People who have discovered their Jewish roots in the past three years 
  • People who have married a Jewish spouse in the past three years.
