New Orleans East Hospital Diabetes Center and Center for Jewish-Multicultural Affairs Launch Groundbreaking Partnership

November 17, 2020 -- Today, the Rhesa & Alden J. McDonald and Sue Ellen & Joseph Canizaro Diabetes Center (Diabetes Center) at New Orleans East Hospital (NOEH) and the Goldring Family Foundation Center for Jewish-Multicultural Affairs (CJMA), a brand new initiative of the Jewish Federation of Greater New Orleans (Federation), announced an innovative joint venture that will seek to directly address the healthcare disparities facing local communities of color and historically underserved populations, and that have been made even more apparent by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Diabetes-Friendly Restaurant Menu Program


July 28, 2021 - The Get NOEH Fit: "Healthy You, Healthy Me" intiative has launched a new Diabetes-Friendly Restaurant Menu Program, aimed at helping the New Orleans community make health-conscious decisions when dining out at participating restaurants.


Restaurants participating in the program work closely with the diabetic care team from the NOEH Diabetes Center to curate menu items that meet certain dietary standards. As of the date of this announcement, diabetes-friendly specials are available at Backatown Coffee Parlour, The Blue Flamingo, Dooky Chase, Li'l Dizzy's (on Wednesdays), Salads Galore, and We Dat's.
